How To Set Up Xbox 360 Live

So you have gone out and bought the Xbox 360!? It was a fabulous decision and you will enjoy hours upon hours of playing time with your new device, but before you get started into the wide world of online gaming you are going to need to know how to join together the 360 to the Live network.

Before you do whatever you are going to need to decide how you plan on connecting the bad boy. The 360 supports both wired and wireless connections. In order to use a wireless connection you will need the Xbox 360 Wireless adapter. Personally I find the wireless connection to be a bit too temperamental for my liking so I go with a wired connection via a router, but not every person has the same wireless experience.

How To Set Up Netgear Wireless Router

To set up the connection via a router unplug the router and the modem and turn off the 360. join together an Ethernet cable to one of the out ports of the preexisting router then join together the cord to the back of your 360. Plug everything back in and turn and give the modem and router about 3 minutes to reboot.

Once you have given everything a few minutes to reboot you can turn the 360 back on. If you have already set up a gamer profile you will see the Xbox Live screen. If you have not set up an catalogue you will be prompted to do so. All you need to do is consequent the on screen instructions. It is a pretty cut and dry process and should not take more than 10 minutes of your time.

If you want to go wireless or you must go wireless you will need to get the Xbox360 wireless network adapter. The adapters are available at most market that sell 360 games or you can order it online. Once you have the adapter unplug any Ethernet cable you might have plugged into the 360 then clip the Network adapter to the back of the 360. It is literally easy to see where it belongs, but just in case, the adapter will sit right alongside the Usb port which is right above the Ethernet port. Once you have clipped it in plug the Usb cable that is attached to the adapter into the port on the Xbox 360. Flip up the antenna that is laying flat against the adapter and you are set, well roughly set.

Turn on the 360 and head into the principles tray. You will see Network options, go ahead into that screen and consequent it through to the "Edit Settings" subcategory. The Network name should appear on a list of available networks. adopt your network and enter the password, if there is a password. Exit out and you should be ready to play.

It is all a very straightforward process and Microsoft has gone ahead and made it super easy to setup the network in no time at all. From start to conclude the entire setup should only take about 15 minutes, tops!

Wireless Connectivity - How to Set Up A Netgear Router

There are times when the learning curve in this technologically appealing information age can seem like a mountain range. Once you conquer one peak or obstacle and you think you are the smartest fellow on the planet, an additional one task presents itself and you are off to the treatment cabinet for an additional one blood pressure tablet. I opinion it would be a good idea to document the up-to-date caress I had when trying to way the internet on a new laptop in a friend's home using a modem and a wireless router. The think is that I would have liked it if someone had previously documented the same caress for me. It sure would have saved me some time.

The Netgear Rangemax Wireless N Gigabit Router Wnr3500 is a fine bit of gear. I have previously used this hardware to associate an whole household to the internet. Wireless routers are significant for any home network that merge wireless and wired network connections. It was used previously with the operating principles Windows Xp with an iPstar Satellite terminal iCon Series Modem. The setup was easy because all I had to do was install the software and supervene the instructions. It was a piece of cake.

I was working with a newly acquired Acer laptop emachines E727. I was trying to use the router to way the same wireless internet relationship using Windows 7 Home Edition as the operating system. I tried to install software using Cd version 2.0 I received with the router but the error message I received stated that I had a compatibility problem with the version of Windows I was running. I spent quite a bit of significant searching Google for a software upgrade to solve the compatibility problem. I had no luck and so as a last resort I contacted the 'Netgear Support' number.

It is a good idea to confirm that you well have an internet relationship so initially I associated an Ethernet cable from the modem to the Rj45 Ethernet port on the laptop. Once the broadband internet way was confirmed I associated the laptop to the modem straight through the router. The modem is associated to the router via an Ethernet cable from the modem to the yellow way point marked 'Internet' on the router. I have an additional one cable running from ethernet production relationship 1 on the router to the Rj45 Ethernet port on the laptop.

On the bottom right of the laptop there is the internet relationship icon next to the speakers icon. When I moved the mouse over the icon it showed an old internet relationship name. It was therefore significant to log in to the router to convert the settings. This was achieved by typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser window.

The default values for the Netgear Wnr3500 are;

Username: admin

Password: password

Under 'Setup', go to 'Wireless Settings'. Go to 'Wireless Network'.

Go to the 'Name (Ssid)' field and delete the former entry value. Enter a new name in the field for 'Name (Ssid)' using a name that you will recognize. This value could be something as easy as your surname. It can be a value of your choice and must be up to 32 alphanumeric characters. It is foremost to remember that this 'Name(Ssid)' must be assigned to all wireless devices on your network and that this value is case sensitive.

Go to the 'Region' field and settle on your region from the drop-down list.

Go to the 'Channel' field which determines which operating frequency will be used. I entered channel 11.

Go to the 'Mode' field and settle on the desired wireless mode. The default is "Up to 145Mbps", which is the neighbor kindly mode.

Under 'Security Options' I use 'Wpa-Psk [Tkip]'. This is an acronym for Wi-Fi Protected way with Pre-Shared Key. Use Wpa-Psk standard encryption with Tkip encryption type. This is purely a bit of useless information for the useless information department.

At the bottom of the page under 'Security Options (Wpa-Psk + Wpa2-Psk) Passphrase', enter a word or group of printable characters in the passphrase box. The Passphrase must be 8 to 63 characters in length. Use something that you can well remember. If you cannot think of anything, use your mobile phone number.

Click 'Apply' to have your changes take supervene and the router will update. When the router has updated, return to the internet icon at the bottom right of the page and left click. You should have the new 'Name (Ssid)' as the internet connection. If all has gone to plan, you can remove the cable and browse the internet, wireless style. It is the only way to go!

Both Gaming and streaming HD video applications demand high-speed networks that capable of delivering high bandwidth-sensitive applications. They should be capable to intelligently manage and automatically prioritize network traffic to better execute bandwidth-sensitive applications including VoIP and multimedia applications. You need a wireless router which has QoS (Quality of Service) technology feature.

The fastest wireless network today is based on draft 2.0 802.11n standards. It is not finalized yet, but mostly the manufacturers have shipped their new lines of products using this draft version of 802.11n technology. This draft 802.11n (wireless -N) technology can deliver the speed of up to 300 Mbps (ideal condition, actual speed may vary) with enhanced technology specific to the manufacturers. Best Home VPN Router - Making Information Secure Yet Accessible

When you are working from home, congratulations! You are one of the few people who has succeeded in breaking the pattern of "working for the man". You have become your own boss. You feel empowered as you are determining the direction in which you want your business to go.

What does a VPN router, or a virtual private network router, have to do with working from home? Well, a lot, possibly. We'll explore two reasons why a home office needs a VPN router, which is making your business and home information more secure, and second, making your information accessible. But first, let us define a VPN router!

Netgear Wireless N Router

netgear wireless n router

What is a VPN router?

If you have more than one computer in your home office or home then you likely have a home network set up. And the first thing that attaches to your cable modem or DSL modem is a wired or wireless router. The router's main purpose is to allow all the computers attached to your home office network to access the internet independently, so the internet connection can be shared. The second most important function of the router is that it actually creates the home network, that is, it makes home network computers accessible from each others. A more advanced concept would be to attach a home network storage to the router, and have shared disk space available to everyone.

So why would you need a small office VPN router or a VPN wireless router? A VPN, Virtual Private Network, router is a router that allows not only computers on the home network to share the internet connection, but also allows authenticated users on the internet (think yourself at the Starbucks with a laptop or iPhone) access your home network through a secure connection over the shared, public internet. It is like building a secret tunnel directly from your home network to your browser on your laptop outside home. All you need is internet access, your VPN password and a small piece of VPN software for your laptop. Then, you can access your home network from anywhere securely and no one else will know about that.

VPN through router makes your private information more accessible

By allowing authenticated, strong password protected incoming connections to your home VPN router and your home network, you suddenly have access to your home network from anywhere you are. Document files, your videos, music mp3 files, even the programs that you normally run at home, are suddenly available to you seamlessly. Be it at the local Starbucks, at the client's office, at a friend's house, you will have a connection and access to your data any time, as long as you provide a secure password.

VPN router makes your information more secure

Sure, you say, but I use a laptop anyways for my business, and I can take it anywhere with me. True. But, consider the downside. All your software, all your data, is there with you, in public places, in the car. These are all the places where your laptop and your valuable information can easily be stolen if you leave them unattended even just for a minute. So you either need to exercise an extreme level of caution when roaming outside your home, or... get a secure VPN router and leave ALL the important information securely stored in house, and access it securely from wherever you are.
