How to Play Video Games Using Powerline Technology

Need internet in a room with no router? Want to play video games, but no wireless internet? Well here is how to use powerline adapters that will fix all of the above.

Internet gaming is something that is increasingly becoming more and more popular. With that comes more and more problems with internet accessibility. One major problem is getting internet to an area away from the router or not wanting to use/have wireless internet. An easy explication to this problem is power line adapters. They send your wireless internet through your home wiring so that it can regularly work in any room that has a power adapter. I personally use this selection with my x-box and it works wonderfully. There can be problems associated with your home wiring though. If there is a problem like a bad wire or a lapse in connectivity, then the connection could lag or be considerably bad.

To do this kind of connection you first need to buy a power line adapter which regularly costs everywhere from 50-100 dollars. Once you have the adapter you need to set it up depending on what type of power line adapter you bought. I have a Netgear adapter which runs perfectly. You have two adapters to use. One that plugs into the wall by your router, and an additional one that plugs into the wall at the desired location of the internet connection. Note: They must be plugged into the wall and not a power strip or extension cord for this will defeat the purpose of going through your home wiring. You then must join together the two adapters. To do this ensue the directions that come with the adapter of your choice. They regularly need to be paired, similar to the way blue-tooth products are paired.

Once connected, you plug a ethernet cable into each adapter and then one into your router and the other into your x-box, computer, or other type of internet enabled device. You then should have unrestricted access depending on your router settings to all the internet you want and the adapters will shut off when the console or computer is not using the internet and will come on again when turning on the device.

These type of adapters are essentially "plug-and-play" adapters. All you should have to do is plug them in and do a quick setup once and they should work all over the house where the wiring is good. Remember, bad wiring can cause the adapters to not work as well do to the lapse in loop connection. These type of connections send the data from the internet through a loop. This loop works like any other electrical circuit and goes from your router through the wires, to your device, and back again. If there is faulty wiring in an outlet somewhere in your house, these type of adapters may not work.

There are also wireless versions of these adapters where you plug one end into your wall by your router and an additional one into the room where you want the internet. In the room where you want the internet, instead of plugging that end into the device, the adapter broadcasts the internet in the specified room.

As technology increases, so do the possibilities. New ideas about the internet are being discovered every year and it is only getting easier to get it. These adapters are just one favorable way to further the expand of the internet into more places, either close or afar.
