Configuring a wireless router

With a wireless router makes computing life more enjoyable. Why limit yourself to the computer in the same place it was taken from the work box? The creation of a wireless router is easy and allows you the freedom to access the Internet, files, printers and more, from virtually anywhere in your home or garden. Before you shake your head about configuring a wireless router on your own, believe me, if I can do, no onepossible.

Here are some simple steps to set the wireless router.

When you walk into your nearest Best Buy store or another computer, you will see that they have a variety of routers. Basically, there are (3) wireless network technology on the market, 802.11a, 802.11b, 801.22g, and. So what are the differences between these wirelessTechnologies?

802.11a wireless protocol is the oldest version of wireless networking technologies available. While you can find hardware 802.11a affordable strongly advise you to avoid them. 802.11a is limited in range and capacity in comparison to 802.11b and 802.11g. Why, then set the first wireless network with the oldest technology.

802.11b wireless protocol (11Mbs) is by far the most common wirelessThe technology in use today. If you choose this wireless protocol, you'll be fine. But why not start with the wireless protocol and the best currently available?

802.11g wireless technology is the best on the market and all new computers with built-in wireless cards use this protocol. Wireless 802.11b protocol has been followed by backwards compatible 802.11g (54Mbs). If you have a choice, I strongly recommend buying 802.11g card for my computer and on the maximum benefits of this wireless technology provides.

Connecting Your Wireless Router

Before you begin, make sure that a paper copy of your router's manual or instructions before you.Sounds easy, I know, but you'd be surprised how many people neglect this essential step. I start, let's go!

Once youentered the address in your browser, you will be prompted to enter a user name and password. Refer to the table for particular information. While in configuration mode, you can change the password, which I highly recommend.

Next you must set the network ID, or SSID. This name need not be boring, but choose something that is unique, but easy enough for you to remember.

The protection of your network. You also have the opportunity toor protect the network or leave it "open". Accessing the network "open", each within the signal range of your wireless router to the location on the network.
